Check age and school categories
Individual prices are ¥2,500 for adults/high-school/college categories, ¥2,200 for ages 65+, ¥1,200 for elementary/junior-high students and ¥700 for children from age 3 to before elementary school. Confirm boundary ages and evidence with the seller. Disability booklet discounts are limited to domestically issued Japanese documents. Add ¥600 regular-car parking if driving.
Park and JR bundles are separate products
The adult high-school-and-above aquarium/park bundle is listed at ¥2,690 versus ¥2,500+¥450 separately, saving ¥260 if visiting both. The official page directs sales to Asoview. JR roundtrip bundles vary by origin station; no single fare applies universally. An aquarium ticket does not automatically include the park, rail or boat.
Hakata and Tenjin require different transfers
From Hakata, take the JR Kagoshima Main Line to Kashii, then the Kashii Line toward Saitozaki to Uminonakamichi. The official Tenjin route uses the subway to Kaizuka, Nishitetsu Kaizuka Line to Wajiro, then JR Kashii Line. Check date-specific departures, transfer waiting and station-to-entrance walking. Adding published train-segment times does not give hotel-to-entrance duration.
Ferry operation differs by pier
Uminaka Line connects Momochi and Hakata Pier with Uminonakamichi. On October 6,2026 the operator suspended Momochi from the first service due to rough seas while Hakata operated normally. That notice is not a future guarantee. Check the last return and a JR backup. The official bundle page says roundtrip-plus-admission packages are not sold at the piers; confirm the advance sales point. No unverified standalone fare or sailing timetable is quoted.
Distinguish aquarium closure from show repairs
Normal hours are 9:30 am–5:30 pm, December–February 10 am–5 pm, with last admission one hour before closing. Annual closure is January 18–21,2027. Separately, dolphin/sea-lion shows and their stands are scheduled to close January 12–April 9 for repairs; reopening may be earlier depending on progress. Check separate schedules for other tank shows.
Ask about reentry before leaving
The official welfare-group FAQ describes stamping the back of your hand at the exit and showing it to entrance staff. Confirm applicability to your individual or seller-issued ticket before leaving. The 2011 exterior photograph does not document current exhibits, shows or entrance arrangements.
