Distinguish station exits from Shinkansen gates
The northern Karasuma Central Exit differs from the Shinkansen Central Gate. Granvia describes a route through the north–south passage and restaurant area, while Miyako City Kintetsu gives about one minute from the Shinkansen Central Gate. A northern hotel’s one-to-four-minute walk is not the journey to a Shinkansen platform. Use the JR West station plan to identify your direction and gate, then walk the route the previous evening.
Prepare ticket collection and platform access
Check whether your reservation requires paper-ticket collection or supports an electronic gate. Follow your seller’s instructions for machines or counters and required cards, codes or documents. Hotel walking estimates exclude collection queues and platform travel. The official plan lists platforms 11 and 12 toward Tokyo/Nagoya and 13 and 14 toward Shin-Osaka/Hiroshima/Hakata; check your reservation and the day’s departure display for the actual platform.
An underground connection may be closed early
Daiwa Ekimae closes its underground entrance from 23:30 to 07:00; Kyoto Tower lists underground route hours of 11:30–23:00. Prepare a street-level route for an early departure. Miyako City Kintetsu locks the Kintetsu Hachijo entrance from 23:45 to 05:00, with a dedicated intercom for overnight arrivals and returns. Sakura Terrace locks its main entrance from 23:00 to 06:00 with room-key access. Arrival instructions do not establish checkout procedures: ask the previous evening about key return and payment.
Check breakfast and operation dates first
Daiwa Ekimae lists breakfast from 06:30 but suspends it from December 18, 2026 until approximately mid-March 2027 for construction. Sakura Terrace’s 07:00 breakfast may not suit an early train. Do not apply those times to other hotels. New Hankyu ends operations after the overnight stays of January 17, 2027; do not select it for later dates. Compare the same dates and occupancy, including unusable breakfast and cancellation conditions.
