Choose tickets around the exhibits and nearby botanical park you plan to visit. Child admission rules differ for permanent and special exhibitions; also distinguish ordinary entry from the annual-pass sales cutoff.

Separate permanent and special exhibitions

Permanent admission is JPY 840 for general visitors and 470 for university students; high-school students and under-18s enter free. Special exhibitions cost 340 for general visitors, 270 for university students and 170 for schoolchildren; preschool children enter free. Bring student identification and check the exhibition calendar separately.

Choose scope first

First check whether the special exhibition you want runs on your travel date, then allow time for the botanical garden after the museum. A combination ticket does not extend either facility’s admission deadline. For a late-afternoon arrival, consider one facility. Compare the combination with separate admission only when you will visit both.

Compare two-facility costs

Separate adult admission totals 840+300=1,140 yen, versus 920 for the combination. University admission totals 470+250=720 yen, versus 580. These calculations apply when visiting both; confirm discount eligibility separately.

Watch different deadlines

Museum last admission is 16:00. The garden normally admits until 16:30, when its greenhouse also closes. Garden winter hours apply November–February, so a late start can leave too little time for both.

Annual passes are personal

For repeat museum visits, compare the annual pass. It cannot be lent to another person; loss does not qualify for replacement. Refunds and extensions are generally unavailable. It is not a botanical-garden admission pass.

Leaving and returning

Museum tickets allow same-day re-entry. Keep your ticket and check last admission before returning. Ask the sales counter about the unused facility portion of a combination ticket.

Check how to pay for the combination

The museum excludes the Mizunomori combination from its listed cashless payment options. Its online offer for general and university permanent-exhibition admission does not establish online combination-ticket availability. Ask the counter about payment and unused-facility validity.
