For a simple adult return trip, budget ¥400 in ferry fares plus the separate ¥100 visitor tax on entry to the island. The route near the great torii gate applies to designated departures from Miyajimaguchi.

Add visitor tax to the return fare
The Japanese and Korean official guidance recorded in the original review lists the ordinary adult one-way fare as ¥200. A return on the same JR ferry totals ¥400 in fares, with a separate ¥100 visitor tax when entering the island. For multi-day visits or an itinerary using different ferry operators, check actual ticket conditions rather than reusing this simple return calculation.
Check children’s ages and the number of paying companions
The child fare applies from age 6 to under 12. Up to two preschool children travel free per paying passenger, and children aged 0 travel free. Preschool children are exempt from visitor tax. Write down family members’ ages and confirm at the ticket counter to avoid budgeting only for the adults.
Choose the outbound sailing for the torii view
JR lists the Otorii route on Miyajimaguchi departures from 09:10 to 16:10. The torii is on the right in the direction of travel, and both ordinary and Otorii-route crossings take about 10 minutes. This does not mean every sailing back from the island follows the same scenic route. If photographs are your priority, choose the outbound time first.
Match your rail pass to the ferry operator
The official Korean guidance lists Japan Rail Pass and JR West Rail Pass use. Check your particular pass’s valid dates and coverage, and choose the JR boarding area. Visitor tax is separate from the ferry fare, so do not assume presenting a pass removes all additional costs. Check the day’s sailing timetable for your return and onward Hiroshima connection.
