A 21:00 site closing time does not mean both gates remain open late. The sluice gate closes at 18:00, and leaving for a meal does not permit same-ticket re-entry. Plan the entrance and evening around one visit.

Calculate the fee for your admission date
Since 1 April 2026, adults pay 1,100 yen and elementary, junior- and high-school pupils 550 yen, without a group discount. Earlier reservations do not retain the former fare when admission is after the change. Two adults and two pupils pay 3,300 yen. Check preschool and special-exemption conditions separately.
Separate main and sluice gate hours
Viewing hours are 08:00–21:00, last admission 20:40. Omotemonbashi main gate operates 08:00–21:00; Suimon sluice gate 08:00–18:00. The operator estimates about one minute from Dejima tram stop or four from Shinchi Chinatown, but recheck the final walk to the gate you can use that evening. Estimates do not guarantee arrival with crossings, bags or assistance.
Leaving ends same-ticket admission
The official rule prohibits re-entry. Do not budget one ordinary ticket for daytime viewing, a meal outside or a hotel break, then returning for the evening. To see both daytime and evening, plan a continuous visit while considering rest and remaining viewing time.
Site closing differs from shops and meals
The museum shop runs 09:00–18:00; restaurant hours and order cutoffs differ. A special restaurant-hours notice covers 9–16 October, so its normal listing is not enough to promise dinner on those dates. Eating in restored areas and while walking is restricted; follow garden-bench and lawn-area guidance.
Distinguish nearby iron-bridge works from the entrance bridge
The 8 October notice lists Dejimabashi iron-bridge works for 23 October 2026–23 February 2027, with vehicle and pedestrian closure 08:00–17:00. This names a different bridge from Omotemonbashi entrance. It does not state that every Dejima gate closes. Compare travel-date diversions with your entrance plan.
Ask the main information office about wheelchair help
The operator lists seven free loan wheelchairs at the main-gate information office. Limited stock does not guarantee availability. Check lending, entrances and the viewing route if someone needs assistance. The 2024 photo shows restored riverside buildings from Tamae Bridge, not current gate, construction or evening conditions.
