The history museum and Osaka Castle keep are separate venues. Choose permanent admission first; a special exhibition requires its own fee. An old castle combo recommendation is not evidence that the product is still sold.

Permanent admission and evidence
Permanent admission is ¥600 for adults and ¥400 for high-school and university students with proof. Junior-high pupils and younger children enter free. Free admission for residents aged 65+ requires Osaka City residency and age evidence; it is not a general tourist senior discount. Special exhibitions cost extra.
Online QR tickets cover the permanent exhibition
The current official sale lists validity through 31 March 2027. Each ticket admits one person once; no cancellation or refund follows payment. Group 20+ discounts and discount vouchers are handled separately at the museum. Present each visitor’s QR code or a clear A4 printout.
Allow time before 16:30 entry closes
Hours are 09:30–17:00, last entry 16:30. Closed Tuesdays, or the following day when Tuesday is a holiday, plus 28 December–4 January. Last entry is not a recommended arrival time. Leave room to read the displays and check temporary closure notices.
Metro exits and luggage
Use Tanimachi 4-Chome on the Osaka Metro Tanimachi or Chuo Line, exits 2/9. First-floor lockers require a refundable ¥100 coin. Ask the first-floor General Information desk about bags that do not fit. Confirm storage availability before committing to the next part of your day.
Photography and travelling companions
Personal photography is permitted in permanent displays except marked objects. Flash, tripods and selfie sticks are prohibited. Strollers are normally allowed but may be restricted when crowded. Ask General Information about wheelchair loans and the nursing room.
The old castle combo stopped being sold
The operator ended castle-keep/museum combo sales on 27 December 2024; resumption remains unspecified. Disregard older tourism recommendations for that product. If comparing an Amazing Pass, check the current product’s facility and date conditions independently.
