At Musée d’Orsay in Paris, ordinary admission, reservations for Paris Museum Pass holders and free first-Sunday bookings have separate procedures. Check Monday closure and Thursday evening opening before adding other sightseeing.

Remove closure dates before choosing a time

Official visitor guidance lists closures on Mondays, May 1 and December 25. Normal hours are Tuesday–Sunday 9:30–18:00, with Thursday opening until 21:45. Closing time and last admission differ, so work out how much you can see with a late ticket. At the original source review, last admission was 17:00 on ordinary days and 21:00 on Thursday evenings.

Online and on-site tickets differ in price and procedure

The standard adult rates recorded in the original guide are €16 online and €14 on site. Consider date-specific queues and available booking times before deciding on an on-site purchase purely for the price difference. Choose a time on the official sales page, which recommends online reservations, and check the confirmation after payment. If a particular work is your priority, check whether it is displayed and whether rooms are closed for works.

Pass holders and free Sundays have separate reservations

The official sales page reviewed for the original guide requires Paris Museum Pass holders to reserve a free time slot. Fit the Orsay booking within your pass validity and bring the booking confirmation too. Free admission for everyone on the first Sunday of each month also requires its designated free reservation. Do not arrive without booking simply because it is free, or buy a duplicate ordinary paid ticket first.

Read free-entry eligibility and exhibition inclusions

Free-entry categories include visitors under 18 and EEA residents under 26; check the required evidence. Distinguish citizenship and residence conditions so a Korean visitor does not infer eligibility from age alone. Ordinary admission covers the permanent collection and available temporary exhibitions, but the listed Bartholdi VR experience is excluded. Read the product description for your intended exhibition and allow viewing time.
