Not every gate shown on the Suizenji Jojuen map is normally open. Route yourself to the main or north gate, check the age bands and last admission, then allow time to walk from your tram stop or JR station.

Check ages and payment before arriving

Regular admission costs JPY 500 for ages 16 and over and JPY 200 for ages 6–15. Group rates and certificate-based concessions have separate conditions. The official guide lists credit cards, QR payments and transport electronic money, but this does not guarantee every overseas card or app. Confirm your specific payment method on arrival.

Choose an open entrance rather than the nearest mapped gate

The east, south and Soseki gates are normally closed: use the main or north gate. The official access page lists about five minutes on foot from the Suizenji Koen tram stop, versus about twelve from JR Shin-Suizenji Station. Save the correct arrival point and entrance together, allowing extra time for crossings, luggage or a detour.

Separate garden hours from indoor facility hours

The garden normally opens every day from 08:30 to 17:00, with last admission at 16:30. Event hours can differ, so check the notice for your date. Do not assume that the rest area or exhibition room stays open throughout garden hours. Their separate schedules differ between the official Japanese and English guides; this article therefore does not give a settled indoor schedule. Confirm current hours for the facility you want to use.

Distinguish personal snapshots from shoots requiring an application

The detailed photography policy exempts ordinary visitors’ personal landscape photographs and family snapshots from advance application or prior permission from Izumi Shrine. TV or film production, model shoots, advertising posters and commercial wedding or commemorative shoots are among the listed application categories and generally involve a fee. For such work, check the official procedure about a week ahead.

Plan the main-gate approach for luggage or assistance

The guide locates coin lockers by the main-gate ticket office and directs wheelchair-loan enquiries there too. Availability and a suitable locker size are not guaranteed. There is no dedicated parking for ordinary visitors, so drivers should check nearby paid parking and the route to an open entrance. The garden photograph dates from 2015 and does not establish today’s lawn, weather or crowd conditions.
