For a night in Chiayi before travelling to Alishan, distinguish HSR Chiayi from central TRA Chiayi first. These city-hotel candidates compare arrival, evening plans, luggage collection and the actual next-day boarding point. They do not promise mountain accommodation or direct sunrise access, and are not a personal-stay or popularity ranking.

Distinguish HSR from central TRA Chiayi
Official Alishan transport material separates routeA 7329 from HSR Chiayi and routeB 7322 from TRA Chiayi. These are city hotels, so plan the transfer into the city after HSR arrival. Check current bus timetables, boarding stops, reservations and service notices before departure.
Match the forest train with its destination and ticket
The official mainline timetable distinguishes services ending at Shizilu from services reaching Alishan. Do not assume every train goes all the way. Match Chiayi or Beimen with the departure station on your ticket and check notices and availability. The agency office address and ticket-office hours do not replace the boarding point or departure time.
Plan city accommodation separately from a mountain sunrise
A night in the city is a different plan from a sunrise train starting inside Alishan. Allow for mountain roads, weather, connections and luggage collection. Photos are real examples for each hotel, but dates and booking categories are unconfirmed; check bedding, occupancy, windows, breakfast and cancellation for your product.
Before you book
- Identify HSR or central TRA arrival
- Match the actual bus or forest-rail departure point
- Check train destination, ticket and service notices
- Map the hotel entrance and luggage transfer
- Confirm bedding, occupancy, windows, breakfast and cancellation
- Allow for luggage collection, mountain roads, weather and transfers
Common questions
Are HSR Chiayi and TRA Chiayi the same station?
They are separate stations. Official Alishan bus material distinguishes their routes, so match both your arrival station and actual boarding point.
Does a city stay provide direct access to the Alishan sunrise?
City accommodation does not guarantee it. Check the mountain arrival, additional transport and sunrise train’s starting point; compare mountain accommodation separately if needed.
