Choose the bath and the space you want afterwards as two separate decisions. A private rest room does not mean a private bath. Decide how your party wants to rest and when you need to leave before comparing the courses.

Who this guide is for: Day visitors choosing a Honkan bathing course in Matsuyama
Compare included baths and rest space. Keep the regular private-rest course separate from advance-booked room hire.
Compare at a glance
| Option | Best fit | Check before booking |
|---|---|---|
| Kami-no-yu downstairs | ¥700; 60 minutes | Bathing only |
| Kami-no-yu second floor | ¥1,300; 60 minutes | Bath and shared rest |
| Tama-no-yu second floor | ¥2,000; 60 minutes | Tama-no-yu access and shared rest |
| Tama-no-yu regular third-floor private rest | ¥2,500; 90 minutes | Private rest, no advance reservation |
| Shirasagi / Hisho room hire | Room charge plus per-person charge | Advance booking; no bath inside the room |
Choose the rest space first
Will you simply bathe, or sit together afterwards? Compare the included baths and rest space rather than choosing by floor alone. Table prices are for adults aged 12 and above. For children, consult the official age bands and course prices.
Private rest is not a private bath
The first four regular courses cannot be booked ahead. Shirasagi and Hisho room hire requires booking, but neither room contains a bath. If your priority is a bath exclusively for your family, a private-rest label cannot answer that question.
Calculate the party total
Shirasagi costs ¥6,000 per group plus ¥1,300 per adult; Hisho is ¥3,000 plus the same adult charge. Two adults therefore total ¥8,600 or ¥5,600. Recalculate for your party; the room charge alone is not the final price.
Check the booking channel
Online room-hire reservations close at 22:00 the previous day; same-day inquiries are by phone. Check the actual slot and read change and cancellation conditions before committing your other plans. A timetable is not confirmation of availability.
Use the course cutoff
Ticket cutoffs are 22:30 downstairs, 21:00 for the two second-floor courses and 20:30 for regular third-floor private rest. Start your evening plan with the chosen course’s cutoff, then check the actual queue and your onward transport separately.
Read the photograph as historical
This photograph shows the facade in 2014, before restoration. Do not use the old signs or queue as current guidance. Honkan is a public bathhouse, without overnight accommodation; a rest-room reservation is not a hotel booking.
