A trip starting at JR Izumoshi uses a different operator station for Ichibata trains. Separate the train-transfer decision from the final bus stop near the shrine.

Who this guide is for: Visitors comparing trains and buses from Izumoshi to Izumo Taisha
Check whether your train is through-running or requires Kawato; compare Seimon-mae with the Taisha bus terminal rather than treating all shrine-area stops as identical.
Compare at a glance
| Option | Best fit | Check before booking |
|---|---|---|

| Bus to Seimon-mae | Adult 510 yen / child 260 yen | JR Izumoshi → 正門前 |
| Bus to Taisha terminal | Adult 530 yen / child 270 yen | JR Izumoshi → 出雲大社バスターミナル |
Identify the operator station
The rail fare table starts at 電鉄出雲市, Dentetsu-Izumoshi. A similar name does not make it a JR platform, ticket or gate. Check the station entrance from your hotel and prepare for a separate railway boarding.
Read through and transfer markings
The official weekend/public-holiday timetable contains both through trains and Kawato transfers. Match your travel-day type and read 直通 or 乗換. The listed 10:25 departure and 10:48 arrival is one example, not a weekday instruction or universal 23-minute journey.
Compare fares to named bus stops
The AEON-route matrix lists 510 yen to Seimon-mae and 530 yen to the Taisha bus terminal from JR Izumoshi. Child fares are half rounded upward to 10 yen:260 and 270 yen respectively. Preschool-child accompaniment rules require a separate check.
Check the stop column and branch
The linked schedule shows AEON and YumeTown itineraries and services continuing beyond Taisha. Choose a departure that actually has a time at your intended stop. Road delays can occur, so leave space before an onward JR long-distance train.
Do not mix boarding rules
Ichibata trains use one-person operation; staffed-station gates open 5–10 minutes before departure. Unstaffed stations have specific doors and numbered-ticket procedures. Do not transfer those instructions to JR or buses. IC-card, large-bag and wheelchair conditions were not fully established in this research.
Save the return separately
Check the return timetable and opposite-direction boarding stop before leaving. Fares reflect operator-linked tables checked on 12 October 2026. Recheck notices for your actual date; signs in the historical station photograph are not a current timetable.

Common questions
Is this train covered by a JR pass?
Pass eligibility was not verified. Treat Ichibata as a separate operator and check the issuer’s conditions.
Is one option guaranteed fastest?
No. Waiting, transfers, road delays and the final walk affect arrival.
