Prepare three things separately: public-zone access, exhibition admission and the underground Swimming Pool waiting list. If the pool is your main purpose, check its operating dates before buying a ticket.

Who this guide is for: Visitors choosing between museum architecture and the underground Swimming Pool view
The underground view needs both a same-day waiting-list reservation and an exhibition ticket. It is scheduled to close for exhibition changes on 19–30 October 2026.
Compare at a glance
| Option | Best fit | Check before booking |
|---|---|---|
| Free public zone | Architecture visit | Individual facilities have separate hours |
| Pool above ground | Exhibition ticket | No pool time reservation |
| Pool underground | Waiting list + exhibition ticket | Planned closure 19–30 October |
Separate the public and exhibition zones
The free public zone opens 09:00–22:00. Exhibition hours are 10:00–18:00, extended to 20:00 on Fridays and Saturdays. Individual facilities differ. Public-zone opening does not establish access to exhibition rooms or the underground pool.
Join the list on the day
Underground reservations start at 09:00 on the visit date, online or at the Honda Street entrance information-desk machine. Telephone reservations are unavailable. Include children roughly two or older who can stand independently. Buying exhibition admission does not automatically assign a pool turn.
Bring the exhibition ticket and watch your call
Arrange a special- or collection-exhibition ticket for your reserved period. When called by email, go to Gallery 6; the reservation cancels automatically after 20 minutes. Stay underground no longer than five minutes. Keep your waiting-time plan close enough to respond.
The aboveground view also needs admission
The official FAQ requires an organizer exhibition ticket for the aboveground pool view too, although no pool time reservation is needed. Consider it if the underground wait is unsuitable, while checking that exhibition area’s operation.
Check the October changeover
Underground viewing is scheduled to stop on 19–30 October 2026. The general calendar’s exceptional opening on 26 October does not override this specific closure. Check public-space, exhibition and individual-work notices separately.
Match prices to the exhibition dates
The current collection exhibition ends on 18 October: adults ¥450, university/vocational students ¥310, and visitors aged 65+ ¥360. School pupils enter free but need a ticket issued. These rates do not establish prices for the next exhibition; confirm its title, dates and current fee.
