The airport train runs through Natori to Sendai without a change. Decide whether to use an existing topped-up transport IC card or buy a paper ticket. Do not plan around buying a new Suica at the airport station.

Who this guide is for: Arrivals taking the railway from Sendai Airport to Sendai Station

Check your existing transport card and balance, or buy a paper ticket to the correct station. Natori is an intermediate stop on the through service, and the airport station connects with the terminal on level 2.

Compare the two fares for your actual destination

The operator’s table effective 14 March 2026 lists airport–Sendai paper/IC fares of JPY 680/672 for adults and 340/335 for children. The adult one-way difference is JPY 8. Do not apply that difference to every destination: use the relevant row if leaving at Nagamachi or Natori.

Using a card is different from buying one

The operator lists eleven supported cards: Kitaca, icsca, Suica, PASMO, manaca, TOICA, ICOCA, PiTaPa, SUGOCA, nimoca and Hayakaken. PiTaPa post-pay is not supported, so load stored value first. Acceptance does not mean a new card is sold here: the operator explicitly says its stations do not sell Suica. Prepare to buy a paper ticket if you do not already have a suitable card.

Choose the station-name button for the return trip

Within the airport line, buy a paper ticket from the machine for your destination fare. At JR stations such as Sendai or Nagamachi, the operator instructs airport-line passengers to use the station-name button instead of the amount button. Its stations do not sell multiple-ride or return tickets; do not assume an automatic return discount.

Stay on the through train at Natori

The FAQ confirms direct service from the airport to Sendai without a change at Natori. Natori is an intermediate stop. If Sendai is your destination, check the train’s destination and remain aboard. The company’s advertised fastest journey of about 25 minutes is not a promise for every departure. Check the individual train timetable and disruption information, then allow for onward connections at Sendai.

Find the level-2 railway connection

A walkway connects level 2 of the station directly with level 2 of the airport terminal. After arriving, follow railway signs to level 2; when departing, check the route from the station to check-in. The operator’s description of same-level movement refers to the departure route, not a guarantee that every arrival journey avoids changing floors.

Arrange receipts and assistance before boarding

The operator says a receipt button appears at the lower left of the ticket-machine screen when buying a paper ticket. Ask station staff if you missed it or need a named receipt. Separate receipt conditions for an IC journey have not been established here. For wheelchair boarding assistance, contact the ticket office in advance and follow its instruction to arrive 15 minutes before the train departs.
