Choose a garden walk, the museum collection or a special exhibition first. A collection combo and a special-ticket garden add-on cover different visits; buying both can overlap.

Who this guide is for: Visitors choosing garden and prefectural museum admission without buying overlapping tickets

Compare ¥350 garden entry with the ¥660 collection combo. If you already hold the current SUGAI Kumi ticket, check its ¥100 garden add-on before buying another combo.

Garden-only admission and proof

Individual garden entry is ¥350 adult or ¥150 university student. High-school pupils and younger visitors, and people aged 65 or older, enter free. Seniors must show official age identification before entry. Confirm unclear student categories or foreign documents at the counter.

The ¥660 combo covers the collection

The museum collection alone costs ¥510 adult or ¥310 university student. The garden-and-collection combo costs ¥660 or ¥350. For an adult visiting both, separate ¥510 and ¥350 tickets total ¥860, so the combo saves ¥200. It does not include a separately ticketed special exhibition.

Check an existing special ticket first

SUGAI Kumi runs from 2 October to 6 December 2026. Same-day tickets cost ¥1,500 adult, ¥1,000 high-school/university student or ¥700 elementary/junior-high pupil. That ticket also admits visitors to the collection during the exhibition. Show the ticket or used stub for ¥100 garden entry during this run. The garden is not included free, and the offer is not a permanent rule for future exhibitions. Check before adding a collection combo.

Use the garden’s own cutoff

Garden hours are 9:00–18:00 from 16 March to 15 September, last entry 17:30; otherwise 9:00–17:00, last entry 16:30. In October, arrive before the 16:30 cutoff. The museum normally closes at 17:00, last entry 16:30. Its Friday opening extends to 19:00 from 24 September 2026 to 31 March 2027. That does not extend garden hours.

Match two separate closure calendars

The garden closes 29–31 December. The museum normally closes Mondays, 25 December–1 January and during display changes, with holiday and special-exhibition exceptions. The current SUGAI exhibition is open throughout its run. Recheck the exhibition calendar and notices before planning both venues.

Plan a walk within garden rules

Eating is restricted to designated tables beneath the wisteria by the museum-front lawn. Picnic mats, running and drones are prohibited. A photograph of the bridge does not establish a step-free route. The photograph was uploaded in 2005; its exact capture date and present access conditions are unconfirmed.
