Compare a return ticket only if using both rides
Standard fares are ¥500 one-way or ¥700 return for junior-high students and older; ¥250/¥350 for elementary-school children and younger. One preschool child accompanied by a guardian is free under the published rule. Two adult singles total ¥1,000, ¥300 more than a return. A downhill walk may make a single more suitable.
The summit station is not the temple door
The line links the town’s Sanroku station with the Senkoji Park summit station. Senkoji temple is about ten minutes farther on foot via the Literature Path or the route past Petit Anon. The walk from the summit via the temple and three-storey pagoda to the bottom takes about thirty minutes. Steps and slopes make this unsuitable as a universal fallback; assess weather, bags and mobility.
Plan to retrieve bags where you left them
The FAQ lists summit-office holding at ¥300 per bag and bottom information-office holding at ¥500. Do not interpret the English word “locker” as confirmation of automatic lockers. Ask about size, space and collection hours. Leaving a bag at the summit before walking into town may require climbing back to collect it.
Check discounts, payment and refund scope
Both station machines list cash, contactless credit cards and electronic money, but some cards are unsupported. Show discount credentials before purchase; card/e-money payment is unavailable for discounted tickets. The FAQ says discounted, card, e-money and coupon purchases are non-refundable. This does not establish an unconditional cash-ticket refund. Check conditions for an unused return portion or suspended service before paying.
Separate the ride from the operating window
Basic service runs 9:00–17:15, normally every fifteen minutes from both stations, with extra departures when full. The roughly three-minute ride excludes queues, boarding and sightseeing. Event extensions are dated announcements; do not reuse a 17 October extension for every day. A return ticket does not create a late departure.
Check December maintenance and assistance
The operator announces closure for maintenance and repairs from 7 to 25 December 2026. Walking and PEAK observation-deck access do not mean the ropeway operates. Ask staff about wheelchair boarding equipment on the Kamome-car side. The FAQ says the observation-deck elevator closes after business hours: a 24-hour deck is not a 24-hour elevator.
