TOYAMA KIRARI has public displays and paid galleries. Decide whether your stop is for the building, the permanent displays or a scheduled special exhibition. Leave enough time for the selected floors before returning to the station.

Who this guide is for: Visitors choosing between an architectural stop and paid exhibitions in central Toyama

A permanent ticket does not cover special exhibitions. An online general ticket is not a timed reservation; ask at the counter about concessions.

Match the exhibition to your date

The current collection exhibition runs until 29 November 2026. The sauna culture exhibition starts on 31 October and ends on 24 January 2027; it is unavailable during a mid-October visit. Check each gallery’s opening status rather than treating a gap between special shows as a whole-building closure.

Advance counter tickets and online tickets differ

General advance tickets for the sauna exhibition cost ¥1,000 through 30 October at KIRARI’s first-floor information desk and the Asnet counter. Online sales during the exhibition are listed at the regular general price of ¥1,200. This is an exhibition about sauna culture, not a sauna bathing session.

Prepare the actual online QR

The official seller states no cancellation or changes after purchase and no advance timed-reservation system. Use the ticket from purchase through its printed expiry, for one person on one day. Show its QR on a phone or a clear printout. The permanent product currently lists expiry on 31 March 2027.

Consider the two-museum set only if both fit

The ¥450 online set gives one visit each to Toyama Prefectural Museum of Art and Design’s collection and this museum’s permanent displays. Special exhibitions are excluded. Include travel between the separate museums and decide whether both collections are part of your plan before buying.

Watch the entry deadline and gallery rules

Current hours are 09:30–18:00 with entry until 17:30. The usual closures are the first and third Wednesdays and the year-end holidays; check exhibition-change exceptions. Photography and video are restricted in galleries. Use first-floor lockers for large bags, but their dimensions, availability and price were not verified in this review. Arrange an alternative for a large suitcase.

Allow for the final tram connection

From Toyama Station, the museum lists a short walk from Grand Plaza Mae on the loop tram or Nishicho on a tram towards Minami-Toyama-Eki-Mae. Add waiting and viewing time separately. Even an architectural stop needs a decision about whether to enter the paid galleries before last admission.
